Mile
Zero
like
an ancient monster
the kelp snakes toward the rocky beach
where, just out of reach, the tide
twists and swirls, gulps
the afternoon breeze
on whose currents gulls
glide, crying complaints and commentaries
to passing pedestrians, tourists
who settle and smile for the camera
click, at the sign that says mile zero
in
the harbour's mouth, grey frigates
ply blue water and a shadow
is cast on the golden day |
monster
beach
tide
gulps
breeze
gulls
commentaries
tourists
camera
zero
frigates
shadow
day |
