under a full moon
I light a candle for you
you among the stars

for grandpa 1916—2004
April A. Severin's writing is greatly influenced by her deeply rooted native ancestry/spirituality. She has many publishing credits including two websites, five chapbooks, and poems in seven consecutive editions of Tower Poetry (the biannual publication of the Tower Poetry Society). A poem of hers will be included in Sky Woman to be published by Native Women in the Arts and Theytus Books. April has spoken word tracks on two CDs: Keepers of the Sacred Fire for Red Hill Valley and Hammered Out Live. She has read her work at numerous literary and activist events including the University of Toronto's Indigenous Literary Reading Series and the Feed The Fire fundraiser. April is an associate member of the League of Canadian Poets and volunteers as a Power of the Pen Judge for the Hamilton Public Library.
