Monday's Poem

Marathon

he trains
assiduously
long roads
step running step
past cramped leg
through pain
side-stitch
aching chest
into that moment
when breath
comes easy
in
out
arms lift, fall
legs stride
out
fluid in action
training complete
marathon
an act
of air and motion
wholeness
timed
and run
