Winona Baker won the Expo 86 Japanese Pavilion Japan Airlines haiku contest; the 1989 Basho 300th Anniversary contest; the Croatian Haiku Award 97; the Nipponica-Romana Haiku Medal in 94. She has written six books of poetry; her work is featured in ninety anthologies in N. America, New Zealand, Japan and Europe, including The Norton Haiku Anthology, Haiku World: An International Poetry Almanac and Haiku Moment; on Transit Bus posters; on calendars, and in a Hot Lava Video Game featuring haiku by 45 poets world-wide.
