Monday's Poem

I live in St. John's, NL. Work as a teacher and write poetry. Have been published in various magazines including Tickleace and Voices from the Rock.

We have no snakes in Newfoundland so seeing snakes on the mainland is always a delight.

Snake

Snake,
looped in a
sun stippled
double helix,
rests on a bed
of parched leaves

As loons plunge
a glittered lake,
the bed empties

Barren nest
creaks the snake's
lithe absence
