Falling Again

Dented waterbottle, stainless steel hammered by clumsiness.
Loose shoelace. Jar of baby teeth.

"Don't touch that painting."
"Don't climb on the Henry Moore"

In the yard a ladder leans against a fence.
Bruised apples, statue of Buddha face down in the creek.

Love Lies Bleeding next to the secateurs.
Wineglass, meteor, collar bone.

A starfish of terror sings without a mouth,
"The tide, the tide, it's falling again."
