The Green Room

a chapbook by K. Louise Vincent

What is a dream? A child
walks into the garden
singing about what she sees.
Red, red tulips, she sings, hungry,
hungry birds
. She is looking for
the cat she named sweety pie.
She calls out sweeeeety pie in perfect pitch,
walks out of the garden leaving
the gate open.
